     This week: Latest statistics from The Insolvency Service reveal that number of personal bankruptcies at highest level since Q4 2014 and company insolvencies remain at high levels.

    The insolvency service has released insolvency statistics for 2019 Q2.

    Personal insolvency Statistics

    The total number of bankruptcies for the last quarter hit 4,228 which is the highest level since the last quarter of 2014. However total individual insolvencies (with includes Bankruptcies, IVAs and Debt relief orders) decreased in Q2 2019 for the second consecutive quarter, following an 8 year high in Q4 2018.

    Total individual insolvencies remain high with 30,937 recorded in the last quarter. The last 3 quarters have seen the highest number of insolvencies since Q4 2010.

    Total underlying company insolvencies increased in Q2 2019

    Company insolvency Statistics

    Total underlying company insolvencies increased in Q2 2019 when compared with the first quarter. The increase has been driven by an increase in CVLs (creditors’ voluntary liquidations), which were up by 6.9% on the previous quarter. The number of Compulsory liquidations, administrations and CVAs (company voluntary arrangements) all decreased in this quarter.

    Total number of company insolvency totalled 4,321 for the quarter, with 788 compulsory liquidations, 3,040 CVLs, 400 Administrations and 92 CVAs.
